Summary Of Position Functions

This is a summer intern position working in Veregy’s Technology department to assist our team in creating, improving, and maintaining valuable software solutions for our clients that reduce energy waste and lower utility costs.

Essential Position Functions

  • Create and test frontend and backend code and collaborate with other software engineers to improve code quality
  • Assist in the development of electrical demand management dashboards and reporting functionality
  • Assist in development and testing of electric demand prediction models
  • Develop data pipelines for model training and testing
  • Build testing frameworks to ensure model robustness and performance

Education And Qualifications

  • Currently pursuing a Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Data Science, or a related field.
  • Solid programming skills in Python (experience with libraries like PyTorch, TensorFlow, NumPy, or Pandas is a plus) and Javascript.
  • Familiarity with version control (Git) and basic software engineering practices.

Knowledge, Skills, And Abilities

  • Experience or interest in generating Pytorch based machine learning models.
  • Frontend and backend software architecture knowledge.
  • Understanding of machine learning fundamentals (regression, classification, training/testing workflows).
  • Interest in model evaluation techniques (cross-validation, metrics like accuracy, precision, recall).
  • Knowledge (Intermediate to advanced) of various operating systems, software products (e.g. MS Office, etc.), is required.
  • Ability to work independently and efficiently manage time / workload.
  • Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form.
  • Ability to speak and communicate effectively.
  • Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions.
  • Ability to solve open-ended problems.
