Farm Manager (Spring 2026 Start – Setup Phase Fall 2025 Open)
Location: Geneva, IL
Salary: $50K–$60K + performance bonus + insurance stipend
Initial Housing: Off-site (Year 2–3 on-farm housing potential)
Hours: Full-time (~40–45 hrs/week), some weekend coverage expected

Hundred Oaks Farm is launching a regenerative, pasture-based livestock operation on 19 acres right outside Geneva. We're committed to rotational grazing, soil health, and building a local beef-share and mini CSA model.

We’re seeking a hands-on, experienced Farm Manager who can manage daily livestock work starting Spring 2026—and contribute to planning, fencing, and infrastructure early in Fall 2025. 

Key Responsibilities

✔ Setup Phase (Fall 2025)

• Lead fence & water system installation

• Assist with barn layout and livestock shelter

• Support procurement and handling of goats, cattle, pigs, and donkey

• Help coordinate vendors and vendors/projects

✔ Farm Management (Early 2026 onward)

• Grazing & Livestock Management

  • Daily care, rotation, and health monitoring for:

    • 3 beef steers (year 1)

    • 10 goats used for forest clearing

    • 4 pigs

    • 100-200 broilers

  • Implement and adjust intensive rotational grazing plan

  • Set up and move portable fencing and water systems

  • Manage mineral and parasite programs

• Silvopasture Development

  • Use goats to clear 7-10 acres of wooded land for future grazing

  • Maintain animal impact records and assist with seeding, rest, and regrowth cycles

  • Fence and manage forest paddocks for goats

• Infrastructure & Equipment

  • Set up, maintain, and troubleshoot electric fencing and mobile shelters

  • Oversee water hauling system: IBC tote fills, gravity-fed or solar pumping

  • Operate basic machinery (tractor, UTV) as needed for hay, fencing, hauling

• Operations & Light Sales

  • Coordinate CSA box prep and meat share pickup/delivery

  • Manage freezer inventory, labeling, customer hand-offs

  • Assist with 3-4 annual events or workshops on-site (e.g. farm tours)

• Records & Communication

  • Maintain grazing, animal health, and project records

  • Weekly check-in with owner to report progress, flag issues, and plan

  • Interface occasionally with customers or vendors as needed

Ideal Experience

• 3+ years with livestock (beef preferred; goats/pigs a plus)

• Proven rotational grazing systems experience

• Strong understanding of fencing, water systems, animal health

• Physically fit and willing to work outdoors year-round

• Comfortable with UTVs, trailers, and basic farm tools

• Organized, self-motivated, and dependable

• Excellent communication skills (written and verbal)

• Farm sales or direct-to-consumer experience is a bonus
