The Engineer III is an essential part of BD’s Digital Engineering (DE) 3D Printing & Prototyping team and will have the opportunity to contribute to the advancement of BD’s next generation medical products and enhance the current product portfolio. Under the general direction of 3D Printing & Prototyping management, will apply 3D printing technologies to evaluate product designs and optimize product functionality while actively using research and develop advanced techniques and best practices. Responsibilities include operating 3D printers such as Stereolithography, Carbon DLS, Polyjet, DMLM, analyzing and processing machine accuracy data to improve performance, providing engineering support and process flow development for 3D printing technology, leading teams as needed, interacting with product development engineers to optimize machine performance and parts, researching and implementing new technologies and best practices, scheduling and coordinating 3D printing machines, maintaining competencies through training and conferences, performing routine maintenance, utilizing engineering tools like Pro Engineer, Solidworks, moldflow, and scripting to develop prototyping solutions, and contributing to CAE group activities to optimize part quality and manufacturability. Qualifications include a minimum B.S. in Engineering, Mathematics, Metrology or equivalent (engineering degree preferred), at least 3 years of 3D printing industry experience or equivalent education and experience, hands-on experience with 3D CAD solid modeling software (preferably SolidWorks or Pro/E), ability to work in teams and individually, effective communication skills, and preferred medical industry experience. The role requires thorough, accurate, and timely completion of responsibilities, adherence to BD policies and laws, effective communication with management and teams, independent work with strong drive for results, and managing assignments according to project prioritization. BD requires a minimum of 4 days in-office presence per week for most roles to foster collaboration and innovation.
